The Board supports and provides governance to the organisation to enable it to realise its mission. Specifically, it is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the operations of Climate for Change;
  • Overseeing Climate for Change’s operations and governance to ensure compliance with our DGR (tax deductibility) status, tax and charity laws;
  • Reviewing and amending the governing Rules to meet the changing needs of Climate for Change;
  • Developing Climate for Change’s existing strategy into short and long term strategic plans with concrete organisational goals;
  • Supporting the fundraising subcommittee in the implementation of a fundraising plan;
  • Approving Climate for Change’s budget and preparing financial statements;
  • Stakeholder and donor engagement; and
  • General risk management and governance

How to apply:

Board Members are required to attend regular Board meetings (12 per year) and to do all reading and preparation for these meetings (on average up to one hour of reading). The Board will attend longer strategy sessions (full day or weekend long—as worked out by the Board soon after the EGM).

Members must be prepared to commit approximately 10 hours per month as required to support operations, supervise volunteers, develop policies, or systems or provide strategic guidance & mentorship relevant to their position on the Board and their area of expertise.

In addition, members are expected to be part of one of C4C’s board subcommittees and actively support operations with a core volunteer group. Members of sub-committees will be required to contribute 10-20 hours per month towards the general operations of the organisation. Tasks may include fundraising, volunteer and staff support and liaison, bookkeeping and accounting.
