As a science-based conservation organisation, the integrity of our scientific and land management data is critical to inform our adaptive Conservation Management Process (derived from the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation), underpin management decision-making and communicate our impact.
The Conservation Data Analyst will be responsible for ensuring Bush Heritage’s Science & Conservation data integrity. The role will ensure the organisational data collection, management and analysis solutions are business driven and implemented ensuring quality standards, consistency and comprehensive coverage to support the organisations science and conservation objectives. The role will embed data standards and quality through development of appropriate processes, governance and systems and provide training and support for staff.
What's involved:
Work with Science and Conservation staff and other key internal stakeholders to ensure data requirements are defined in landscape, reserve and partnership management plans. Establish a Conservation data framework that defines and guides the organisations approach to ensuring full lifecycle data management. Develop a pipeline for repeatable deployment patterns for delivery and preparation of analytics for external reporting, including Environmental Economic Accounting.

Key criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in science, ecology, or equivalent discipline
- High level of demonstrated experience in data management and analysis.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, including a high level of expertise in managing, manipulating, and presenting ecological data.
- Outstanding computer literacy and proficiency with advanced understanding of Miradi, ArcGIS, statistical analysis tools such as ‘R’ and reporting platforms such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Good understanding of software development practices, and associated programmatic languages such as Python and R.
- A good understanding of Conservation Management Process as it relates to the Conservation open standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of challenges associated with implementing technology solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in supporting a diverse range of people enabling the appropriate use of technology aligned to organisational governance arrangements.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of relevant science & conservation data management processes and demonstrated ability to learn and pick-up new technologies.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in processes and methodologies
- Knowledge of delivery frameworks such as AGILE project management, DevOps, ITIL
- Commitment to the objectives and values of Bush Heritage.
