  • 🔗 Stakeholder Engagement: As First Nations Engagement Associate, stakeholder engagement is core to this role. As a First Nations person, you'll work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to support the Foundation’s partners to deliver their objectives and projects.

  • Initially this role is scoped as a part-time contract or permanent, however, there is potential for flexibility and to increase to a full-time load for the right candidate (please let us know what blend you're looking for - we are open to hearing ideas).
  • The role is based in the Foundation's Sydney office and might require some travel.
What's involved:
  • Being a First Nations person, you'll work collaboratively with our First Nations cultural advisor and provide guidance or advice where appropriate on cultural practice and protocols to The Foundation team. This position will serve as a key liaison with First Nations partners and communities, ensuring that partnerships are culturally sensitive, mutually beneficial and aligned with the priorities of First Nations people, communities, and the Foundation.
  • You'll support key projects and programs by leveraging your excellent organisation skills including stakeholder engagement, incorporating cultural considerations, coordinating travel and logistics, planning & executing events, hosting smooth sailing meetings, organising merchandise, ensuring details like permissions etc are covered.
  • You'll be comfortable getting involved in events and advocacy work including supporting other team mates on activities such as film screenings, roundtables and networking functions. Meeting new people, supporting meaningful connections and facilitating engagement is something that energises you!
  • Communications and community liaison is central to this role. On any given week you might support the Foundation's CEO and your manager to negotiate partnerships or work collaboratively with key representatives from our community partners, through to helping monitor & communicate progress and impact to stakeholders, or preparing reports and discussion papers for the Board to enable informed decision-making. The ability to take on many perspectives and sources of information, synthesise and communicate these both written and verbally will help you succeed.
  • Research, writing and critical engagement: these skills will come in handy with some other tasks such as keeping abreast of First Nations social and economic justice and empowerment issues and developments in government policy, media and advocacy circles, supporting grant assessment and management, and contributing to team decision making.
Key criteria:

The role requires a minimum of five years’ experience in a partnership/account management or project management role. Experience with First Nations communities and culture is essential.
