Full-Stack (AWS Severless) Engineer
Sustainable Investment Exchange
Ready to help people leverage their money through sustainable and impactful investments?
Why us?
Help us drive impact in:
The opportunity:
Why you might love this opp:
Full stack software engineering: You live and breath TypeScript and are comfortable with building performant and modern React apps as well as scalable, efficient, AWS serverless architecture (using SST & CDK).
- ⚡ The team at Sustainable Investment Exchange (SIX) is dedicated to revolutionising how everyday people can impact systemic change by making it simpler for retail investors (that’s you and me!) to influence how the world's largest companies make decisions. Their innovative platform helps people easily buy shares in big companies and take part in shareholder campaigns that influence corporate decisions.
- 🌏 You'll be joining a values-led team, with the founders and advisors having highly impactful and proven experience (ranging from disrupting the $3 trillion super industry through to guiding ASX listed product teams + startups) that inform their leadership. Equity, sustainability, justice, courage and collaboration are core to their work.
- 🚀 This is an opportunity to grow as a senior engineer and beyond. You'll be joining a small, mission-driven team that values integrity and who are all leveraging their expertise for a better world. This org gets that your software engineering experience could be built from a range of places - whether it be in a startup or something else entirely! If you’ve worked in fintech then that’s a plus.
- 🤖 In addition to technical coding/engineering, the person in this pivotal role will work closely with the CPO, team members and external stakeholders (market participants, ID verification providers etc.) to ensure the tech is fit for purpose, customer-centric and scalable, whilst reducing technology risks to the business. Creative problem solving, collaboration, management and adaptability are as important as your software engineering skills.
- 🧩 Finding the right fit for this purpose-led role is top of mind. Passion, communication and some creative grit is as important as your experience; you’ll be working directly with the Chief Product Lead to deliver unique impact across the nation.
- 🌳 The team have already starting making some impactful moves toward making the world a better, fairer place. For example, filing a world first resolution to get big supermarkets to care about their role in aiding an extinction event, working with NGOs on campaigns relating to banning gambling ads and fighting for paid parental leave for workers.
What's involved:
To hit the ground running:
You're someone who can get stuck in and assess where the team and current tech stack is at, build rapport and rally the team around you, and identify a short and medium term strategy to implement for team success.
The balance of work is dependent on candidate strengths, but as a guide:
- 60% technical (engineering, coding) and supporting the CPO
- 25% coaching, planning & collaborating with the team, clients and stakeholders
- 15% risk, compliance and other activities
Key criteria:
How you can apply your skills towards this mission:
- 🧡 Purpose: Values alignment with the team and the broader mission - to help us change the world by changing big companies. As a key member of the team you’ll care deeply about leveraging shareholder power to make the world a better place.
- 🧑💻 Full stack software engineering: You’ve got advanced expertise in TypeScript, NodeJS, ReactJS, CSS, AWS Cloud, and Cloud Development Kit as well as a strong grasp of Event Driven Architecture, database systems and SQL.
- 🔧 Creative problem solving: you have a flair for looking at a problem in the context of the user journey, adapting your plans, and thinking of creative experiments that leverage all kinds of tools to test the product. Your software skills are simply one tool in your arsenal that can help you move towards creative solutions that unlock innovation.
- 👀 User centred: You have a flair for thinking about product through the lens of users; Customer.io or HubSpot, design tools such as Webflow and Figma, and content management systems (CMS) like Headless (Contentful) are just a few platforms you might use to enable this.
- 👐 Strategy: Collaborating with a small expert team to deeply understand the needs of clients - developing and iterating strategy that increases conversions and achieves their impact engagement goals, while also delivering our clients top quality support.
Package guide: $100,000 - $140,000 plus the opportunity to participate in our generous Employee Share Scheme. The team are also open to negotiating a package including flexible hours (~ 32) and location across a five day work week for the right candidate.

More about Sustainable Investment Exchange:
SIX is the trading platform that unites shareholders to push big companies to go green, reduce inequality and be better for workers.
Australia’s Corporations Act grants power to shareholders of listed companies to influence a board in a number of ways: but unless you’re a particularly large investor in Australia, like a super fund or a billionaire, influencing a company as an individual is difficult.
However, when at least 100 investors work together, they have the right to give notice of a resolution to propose at a general meeting.
SIX has been created to break down the barriers and give people a powerful voice in the boardroom.
